India Post has authorised, the London based company Hallmark Group Limited to issue The Pride Of India Collection, a set of classic stamp replicas struck in pure Swiss Silver and layered with 24 carat gold - the first time that such a collection has ever been created for India.From the archives of the National Philatelic Museum based in New Delhi, 25 historic and important stamps have been selected by historians and philatelic experts to tell the story of India in an unprecedented manner.Each chosen image has been sculpted to perfection by world famous artists, expertly engraved onto solid silver ingots exactly the same size as the original stamp, and finally layered with 24 carat gold to create a permanent and valuable record for posterity - creating a fitting tribute to India's unique culture, heritage, great achievments and revered national heroes.
