NORDIA 2013 - Nordic stamp exhibition

 

From June 07th till June 09th, 2013, the Icelandic Philatelic Federation will host the Nordic philatelic exhibition that will be held in the sports hall Asgardur in Gardabaer.

The title of the exhibition is NORDIA 2013 and this will be the sixth such exhibition that the Federation has held after the ones in 1984, 1991, 1996, 2003 and 2009. The goal will be 700 qualifying frames of material to be exhibited.

The exhibits will be divided in all regular classes and in addition for the first time it will include exhibits in competitive postcards class, a class that postcard collectors succeeded to establish in recent years. The exhibition classes are divided in accordance with the exhibition rules which can be accessed in the link to the left on this site.

Participants in the NORDIA 2013 will also be the partners of the Philatelic Federations of the Nordic countries as well as of the Scandinavian collectors club of United States.

Future of Philately in the Internet era

Mr. Patrick Donahoe: The internet adds value to stamp collecting and makes it easy to learn about the hobby and buy and sell stamps. There are all sorts of discussion groups online where you can meet other stamp collectors from around the globe to get tips for enhancing your collection. And every major stamp collecting organization has a website and nearly all sell stamp related products—which are fulfilled through the mail.

India Post  issued a set of  four stamps and a Miniature Sheet on 14 March 2012  to commemorate 100 years of civil aviation in the country.Indian Civil Aviation completed 100 years on 18th February, 2011.

Praful Thakkar, the renowned philatelist of Gujarat is Limca Book Record Holder in 2009 for Autographs & Canteen Tokens and  is a collector of autographs, stamps, First Day Covers (FDCs), coins, medals, tokens, badges , badge plates etc. and many more collectibles of India since last more than 45 years. The contributors are requested to send small files for publication. As due to unavoidable reasons I am unable to download heavy files.

My  broadband connection is not working for the last 15 days due to Big Road repair project on Shamshi - Kullu  highway and all telephone lines of BSNL have been broken down in whole Shamshi area   for unlimited period . This has caused lot of problem for Internet connectivity in offices and home. Now I am using another 2G connection which takes time to download heavy files. So plz do not send  your mails with heavy files.
