Unissued Legendary Singer stamps on sale !!

As you are aware 10 stamps of legendary singers and one miniature sheet were to be issued in June though the date has not come. However the stamps were released in the marked before the due date possibly by philatelic bureau Mumbai as one dealer exclusively from Mumbai is selling them at high price and I am watching for the last 10 days and the price is shooting upto 800-900 for 10 stamps and miniature for Rs.1500.
As a thematic collector of music stamps looking for these stamps for the last one year and disappointed as they were prematurely released and withdrawn by India Post.

I understand few staff responsible for this was suspended by India post. The India post should actually arrest the dealer as his e mail address is available on the net and he is the only one selling them on e bay for the last few days and possibly he with the association with philatelic Bureau staff acquired the lot.

I feel since the government must have spent lot of money the India post can take up with the police and confiscate the released items and then  release the stamps at a future date.

The India post can consider issuing stamps on living greet personalities such as great artists dancers and great monuments, temples, mosques, churches etc. There are many great artists who got Padma Vibhusan Padma Bhushan etc. There are 8 stamps issued so far by India post on living personalities including the latest being Sachin Tendulkar.

Poland - the Land of honey

Date of Issue : 18 July 2016

Here is a beautiful stamp issued by Poland on Honey.Throughout Poland many types of honey are produced, and the tradition of bee-keeping dates back to the Middle Ages. To mark the necessity and importance of this regional product Poland Post has released a special stamp depicting delicious honey. The design of Stamp, FDC and the sheetlet is so beautiful that  every stamp collector would love to have this exquisite philatelic item.
People who live in the south east of Poland make podkarpacki honeydew (PDO). It is made mostly from honeydew (it is derived from silver fir) with the addition of spruce or pine. It has a resinous aroma, similar to the smell of pine needles and a mild, sweet flavour.

The precious treasure of charming Suwalszczyzna is, in turn, honey from Sejneńszczyzna / Łoździejszczyzna (PDO). This honey nectar is made of dozens of different types of plants. It is produced in the basin of the river Niemno, on the border between Poland and Lithuania.

On the Pomeranian Lake District Drawskie, Drahim honeys (PGI) are produced: they are made of buckwheat, rapeseed, heather or lime, and you can also taste there the multifloral honeys. They simply emit the smell of the region of their origin, because they are characterized by the high pollen level coming from endemic aromatic plants.
In Bory Dolnośląskie (that is the part of Nizina Śląsko-Łużycka) heather honey (PGI) is produced, and in Kurpie people make kurpiowski honey (PGI). The latter can be multiflower or nectar, it may also include honeydew. This honey possesses a spicy aroma and a sweet flavour, due to the variety of the vegetation, to the purity of these areas and to the skills of local beekeepers.

Classic Toys of the 1940s to 1960s from Hong Kong

Hongkong Post has released six special stamps that feature six classic toys of the 1940s to 1960s. The stamps have been printed with a lacquered-gloss effect for a nostalgic touch, and will surely rekindle many childhood memories of some of us.

Hong Kong’s toy manufacturing industry can be traced back to the 1940s. The industry started to blossom in the 1950s, when toy manufacturers in the United States relocated part of their manufacturing process to Asia for lower production costs and engaged plastics factories in Hong Kong to start secondary production lines for plastic toys. By the 1960s, Hong Kong’s toy manufacturing technology had become very sophisticated and toy manufacturing was a major local industry that, together with the electronics, textiles and plastics industries, constituted four pillar industries in Hong Kong.

The toys depicted on the stamps are the following:
Plastic Hammer ($1.70) – As the living standards in Hong Kong in early years were low, many families could only afford inexpensive toys sold by street hawkers and stationery shops. The plastic hammer is one good example.
Paper Dolls ($2.20) – Costing just a few cents, paper dolls could bring endless fun as one could always be creative and design unique outfits and accessories for the dolls.
Water Pistol ($2.90) – Hong Kong’s toy manufacturers seized the opportunity of the craze for spy movies and launched a wide range of water pistols to win the hearts of boys.
Mini Plastic Swords ($3.10) – Mini plastic swords were another pastime popular with boys. Every packet contained an assortment of different coloured weapons. To play the game, the opposing players would place a weapon on the floor or a table, and then move it by shifting, pushing or flicking. The player whose weapon landed upon the opponent’s weapon won the match and could take possession of the latter.
Yellow Plastic Ducks ($3.70) – The classic plastic toy set comprising three ducklings led by their mother duck still evokes cherished memories for many people nowadays.
Tin Frog ($5) – With the gaining popularity of plastic toys, the once fashionable tin toys gradually died out. However, they have seen a resurgence as treasures for today’s collectors.

Stamp on 57th International Mathematical Olympiad 2016

Date of Issue: 6 July 2016

"57th International Mathematical Olympiad 2016" Special Stamps

The 57th International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO), being held in Hong Kong from 6 to 16 July 2016, is hosted by the International Mathematical Olympiad Hong Kong Committee (IMOHKC) with the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology as the Host University and the Education Bureau as the Supporting Organisation. More than 100 teams from all over the world will compete in this year’s contest. To mark this major mathematical event, Hongkong Post has  issued a stamp sheetlet on this theme.

The IMO is a competition for secondary school students. The event, held annually in a different country or territory, provides an opportunity for exchange among youngsters from around the world who are under the age of 20 and gifted in mathematics, and nurtures students’ interest in mathematics. The IMOHKC was founded in 1986. In collaboration with the Education Bureau and the Hong Kong Academy for Gifted Education, the committee voluntarily provides talented local students with mathematical Olympiad training and other learning opportunities. Hong Kong has been participating in the IMO since 1988, with the six representing contestants handpicked annually by the IMOHKC among the students attending training courses.

The stamp sheetlet features an illustration of Ceva’s Theorem, a tool frequently used in mathematics to solve problems in geometry. The stamp is circular in shape and shows a geometric problem formulated by Hong Kong, which was adopted as one of the questions in the 2010 IMO.
