Gandhipex-2010, Cuttack
A philatelic exhibition was held on 2nd October, 2010 at the Board of Secondary High School, Cuttack commemorating its Golden Jubilee celebration. The exhibition was inaugurated by Dr. Pramod Kumar Mohapatra, Editor, the daily ‘Samaj’. Exhibits of Philatelists namely Dr. Tanmoy Mohanty, Suresh Chandra Dhal, Nanda Kishore Lal, Pramod Kumar Saraf and Ranjit Dash were displayed in 20 frames. A Quiz and stamp designing contests were also organized which were conducted by Dr. Tanmoy Mohanty. A special cover was released on Gandhiji during the function, presided over by Dr. Satyakam Mishra, President, Board of Secondary Education, Orissa. Philatelists of Eastern India Philatelists’ Association, Kalinga Philatelic Society and Orissa Philatelic Association assisted to make this show memorable. The whole function was supervised the Headmistress Smt. Sakuntala Mohanty.

Mother Teresa Express
Indian Railways have decided to run an exhibition train dedicated to Nobel laureate Mother Teresa, giving an insight into her life devoted to poor and destitute. Named 'Mother Express', the train will be flagged off by Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee from Kolkata on Thursday, coinciding with Mother Teresa's 100 birthday, traversing the length and breadth of the country for the next six months.
"The train would showcase life and philanthropic deeds of this great soul who won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979 and India's highest civilian honour, the Bharat Ratna in 1980 for her humanitarian work," said a Railway release.
It would comprise three air-conditioned coaches in which photographs, write-ups, etc would be exhibited to project the life, work and message of Mother Teresa.
Mother Teresa was a Catholic nun who founded the Missionaries of Charity in Kolkata and who worked tirelessly in the service of the poor, sick, orphaned and destitute for over 47 years.

Stamp Exhibition in Dehradun
A Philatelic Exhibition was organized at IMA (Indian Military Academy), Dehradun on 13 Aug 2010. It was inaugurated by the Commandant IMA, Lt. General Sujlana. CPMG Dehradun Circle Ms Anjali Devashar and DPS Mr. Sanjay Singh was also present. General Sujlana himself is a keen philatelist.
The exhibition consisted of 30 frames, covering different aspects of philately. Topics covered were Indian Armed Forces, POW covers, Sikhism, Antarctica, World rarities etc. The Gentleman Cadets were thrilled to see Penny Black, Scinde Dawk & 1854 Lithographs. The event was witnessed by over thousand Officers, GC's and staff.

My sincere thanks to Mr Pradip Jain of Patna who sent info about these stamps. It is time for exhibition in different parts of the country. Stamp exhibition in Shimla
A district level exhibition is being held in Shimla from 13th March. It has been extended upto 15th March 2010 which was earlier for 13th & 14th March. A special cover was released on Nathpa Jhakri Hydro Electric Power Station during the exhibition.

Philex 2010 - Stamp Fair in Kolkata
Philex 2010, a two day stamp fair cum dealer’s meet was held in Kolkata on from 12 –13 March 2010 at Rotary Sadan, Kolkata. The fair was a big success as such fair had been conducted in Kolkata after 4/5 years. As many as 20 dealers from all corners of India had their stalls apart from other who were doing their business off the stall. Noted dealers from West Bengal and other states had stalls full of different philatelic materials to serve almost all the requirements of the visiting philatelists.

The venue was centrally located with a big A.C. hall. Jam packed hall declared the fair as a great success. People of Kolkata and surrounding areas were benefited by the fair in a big way.Visitors were found satisfied with their visit. The need of such fairs on regular basis was felt.Various eminent philatelists of Kolkata and surrounding areas too visited the fair.
All in all the fair was a big success and hopefully such fairs with be held at regular intervals not only in Kolkata but other places of India also.
