First stamps on 2022 Beijing Olympics and Paralympics

2022 Beijing Olympics and Paralympics

Date of Issue : 31 December 2017

Stamps commemorating the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics and Paralympics have been released in the Chinese capital.

The release took place after the signing of a franchise agreement between the Organizing Committee of the 2022 Games and the China Post Group Corporation. For the first time, the emblems carry a QR code.

The emblem for the 2022 Winter Olympics is called “winter dream.” The design is based on Chinese calligraphy for the word “winter” and also shows a symbolic skater at the top and skier at the bottom.

The Paralympics emblem is based on the Chinese character for “flying” and “evokes the image of an athlete in a wheelchair rushing towards the finish line and victory,” according to the website of the Beijing Organizing Committee for the 2022 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.
The stamp designs include more than just the emblems, however; “BEIJING2022” is repeated in the background in type that China Post describes as “faintly visible,” and a QR code links to an online video about the Beijing Winter Olympics and Paralympics.
The stamps were printed in separate sheets of 12 .Chinese artist Lin Cunzhen designed both emblems.

Best of Rio 2016 stamps..

Date of Issue : 2 August 2016

Australian Post that celebrates Australia`s participation in the Rio 2016 Olympics with a beautiful sheetlet of stamps nicely designed FDC and a Maximum Card..

Rio, recognisable by unique landmarks such as Christ the Redeemer and Sugarloaf Mountain, is the second Latin American city to welcome Olympians to its sporting venues, Mexico City having hosted the Games in 1968. It is also the first time since the Sydney 2000 Games that Olympians will converge on a Southern Hemisphere host city.
Cidade Maravilhosa – the marvellous city, as Rio is affectionately known – is famed for its rich, vibrant and spirited carnival. The Road to Rio stamp design taps into this sense of energy and place, translating the spirit of Cidade Maravilhosa to this international sport spectacular through vivid colour, rippling ribbons and athletic figures.

The designs of the two stamps from Greece combine the ancient and the modern Olympics.
These stamps were issued July 7. In announcing them, Hellenic Post said, “With their sights set on Rio and their hearts never forgetting the roots of the Olympic Games in Ancient Greece, the Greek Olympic Team will compete with passion, honouring their country’s history and proving once again that Greek sport is the best and worthiest ambassador of Greece internationally.”
In addition to silhouettes of modern athletes and skylines, the stamp designs include images of sculptures.

The First Olympic 10 of Gymnastics - 40 years of perfection in gymnastics

40 years of perfection in gymnastics - 1976 - 2016

“Hard work made everything easy ! That’s my secret!”
- Nadia Comaneci

Every nation has its great values, and Romania has an impressive number of personalities of which it is proud, and whose achievements have crossed the borders of the country. One of these figures is the world‘s largest gymnast Nadia Comaneci. To express the special honor to this great sportsman Romfilatelia has introduced a special stamp and two bright souvenir sheets making sport lovers and not only, relive the excitement of that day of July 18th, 1976, when a child changed a world, Nadia Comaneci.
Nadia Comaneci’s achievements have revolutionized world gymnastics and thus she entered history as the best Romanian athlete of all time that was submitted to the International Gymnastics Hall of Fame in 1993.
On July 18th, 1976, a 14 year old gymnast from Romania surprised the sports world with an unrivaled performance: “absolute” 10 at the Summer Olympics in Montreal. The electronic display was not programmed to show grade 10, because there were only three spaces to show the grade, so that the screen showed grade 1.00. Nadia Comaneci got, on this edition of the Olympic Games, the perfect score, winning three gold medals in the individual all-around, balance beam and uneven bars, one silver medal with the team and one bronze for the floor routine.
“Nobody knows when exactly they enter history. There is no specialty manual in the field, to tell you how to deal with the moment. As I was the last to compete in the uneven bars, I immediately started to warm up for the beam. While I was doing warm ups for the beam, the electronic board displayed the grade. A 1.00. I kept warming up, ignoring what had happened, focused on the next exercise. Béla came near me and I asked him: Is it really a 10, Sir? His smile widened from ear to ear and he said yes”, Nadia recalls with nostalgia.

The stamp and the two souvenir sheets of the issue suggestively illustrate the moment of July 18th, 1976, when Olympic gymnastics attained perfection through the performance of a 14 year old child, who dominated by her impeccable technique. The illustrated sleeve of the souvenir sheet features in the background the word ten in the six official UN languages – English, French, Spanish, Russian, Arabic and Chinese. The image of the 14 year old child is brought into the present by the current image of the champion. The two souvenir sheets bring philatelists the gift of two premieres – a symbolical run printing of 2016 pcs., suggesting the marking in 2016 of 40 years of perfection in gymnastics, as well as two types of special paper with security features that the two souvenir sheets are printed on.
