DEBUTPEX-2020 - India’s First Online Postcard Exhibition

 

 India’s First Online Postcard Exhibition

       

DEBUTPEX-2020 is the India’s first virtual exhibition on postcards, organized by the Postcrossing Society of India, in association with PostcardVille. The idea behind this initiative is to celebrate postcards and to commemorate the 151^stbirthday of the postcard, falling on 1^stOct 2020, in a safe and sustainable manner with worldwide participation.

In today’s world of emails, texts, and WhatsApp, writing on postcards is a thing of past. This is a change and will teach the younger generation to take an interest in writing postcards. Some people would not know that writing a postcard cost only 25p (Meghdoot) or 50p (Ordinary) or Rs.6, if you want to send someone with a picture. Even international address picture postcards are tariffed as low as Rs.12/Rs.15. No doubt, postcard is literally the cheapest way of written communication.

Inspired by our Hon'ble Prime Minister's 'Maan Ki Baat' on traditional toys of India, and making India the hub of Toy Industry, a set of 12 postcards on Traditional Toys of India will be released by India Post, through the CMPG / PMGs of Postal Circles from Karnataka, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh & Tamil Nadu, simultaneously to celebrate the mega event. The series of events, as a part of World Postcard Day Celebrations will also have special covers release with a special cancellation from Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and other states.

Various online events and webinars including topics like Postcard writing, Art of Giving and collection of Antique / Heritage postcard are planned by Postcrossing Society of India. Details on these events can be found on the website at www.debutpex.com.

DebutPex 2020 has seen participation of more than 150 postcard enthusiasts from 15 countries, hailing from all walks of life, across four categories –

1) Narrate a Thematic Story

2) Write a Photo Essay

3) Present Research and story of any topic/theme / object.

4) Present a travelogue

Relief Camp For COVID 19

 organized by Eastern India Philatelists' Association

Eastern India Philatelists's Association  is the first philatelic organisation in India which has raised funds and  distributed relief packets during COVID-19 lockdown in Orissa at two different parts.

The Eastern India Philatelists' Association, one of the premier Philatelic organization of India has done a commendable noble work during the lockdown period of COVID-19. It has conducted an online special charity auction for relief work amongst the members of the organization on 1st May.2020. The members had spared their rare and important philatelic materials for the auction. A sum of more than Rs.50,000/- was collected from the auction along with personal contribution of some individual members. 

The first COVID-19 Relief Camp was organised by EIPSA at Bolangir on 10 May.2020 where Philatelists of Bolangir and Bhubaneswar Mr. Kamal Chakraborty, Gangadhar Tripathy, Pranay Agrawal, Hardik Bhammar, Anup Kumar Raut, etc. distributed about 40 relief packets to the poor and needy people of the Jhopad Patti near Central School, Bolangir.

A second COVID-19 relief camp was organised by EIPA on 17 May2020 at Bhusandpur, Khurda. The philatelists of EIPA Mr. Anil Dhir, Shanti Swarup Rath, Anup Kumar Raut, Dr, Bibhu Mishra, Kasinath Sahoo, Chitta Ranjan Das, Shashak Sukla, Prashant Das, Manas Das, K. Chandrasekhar, etc. attended the camp and distributed about 60 relief packets to the poor , disabled, tribal snake charmers and needy people.

It has proposed to organize another COVID-19 relief Camp at Bhubaneswar.  In the Past EIPA has also contributed to the Army relief fund during Kargil war.

Centenary Celebrations of Indian Red Cross Society

The Mission of the Indian Red Cross Society is to inspire, encourage and initiate at all times all forms of humanitarian activities so that human suffering can be minimized and even prevented and thus contribute to creating more congenial climate for peace.Indian Red Cross Society Tamil Nadu Branch is celebrating its Centenary (1920-2020) in India.

The Special Cover was released to commemorate the occasion of Centenary Celebration of the Indian Red Cross Society¬Tamil Nadu Branch on 28th January 2020.

Clubfest - First festival of Philatelic Clubs in Chennai

Aimed at promoting Philately, the King of Hobbies, Permanent Philatelic Exhibition was inaugurated at the Philatelic Bureau of Anna Road Head Post Office on 15.08.2017 where exhibits on different themes are displayed. Philatelic Workshops were conducted at Schools to help them open Philatelic Clubs and Philatelic Deposit Accounts. There are 160 Philatelic Clubs in Chennai. With a view to encourage the budding Philatelists, CLUBFEST 2020 is organized at Anna Road Philatelic Bureau @ Chennai, for a period of one month from 12.02.2020. During this Philatelic Festival, the members of Philatelic Clubs will get an opportunity to showcase their philatelic talents.

This Special Cover and Cancellation was released on 12th February, 2020, to mark the inauguration of CLUBFEST 2020.
