Hi ! With this wonderful stamp from Germany, I just want to thank my friends for these nice beautiful Maxim Cards.The German Post has issued a stamp commemorating the harvest thanksgiving holiday. The stamp is very nice with fruits & full ear of corn..symbol of Crop.Harvest festivals are celebrated all over the world in different forms by different communities. Harvests festivals typically feature feasting, both family and public, with foods that are drawn from crops that come to maturity around the time of the festival. In India, Pongal in January, Holi in February-March and Onam in August-September are a few famous harvest festivals.This stamp is token of thanks for this celebration…. Thanksgiving …
Throughout history mankind has celebrated the bountiful harvest with thanksgiving ceremonies. Harvest festivals and thanksgiving celebrations were held by the ancient Greeks, the Romans, the Hebrews, the Chinese, and the Egyptians. This German stamp depicts a full ear of corn in the light of the end of summer pale sun. In the addition vertical section pumpkin, onion, grapes, apples and pears are featured.Thanksgiving day is usually celebrated on the first Sunday of October. This day the church is decorated by harvest gifts of corn, vegetables, fruits and flowers. Harvest and harvest wreath crown remains in some places as a visible symbol of human's gratitude for the reach crop.
