The Second Picture Postcard for the series 'Pride of India' dedicated to Ms Manu Bakher and Sarabjot Singh was released by PMG Bengaluru region, DPS Karnataka circle, AP philately today at Karnataka circle. After release the Presentation Pack was offered to Shri Nithin Adka, father of young enterprising Olympic philatelist Ms Jaagruthi Adka.

News from Postcrossers

 

27th July 2024, marks the day when Karishma Jaura hosted two postcrossing meet ups in a single day and it turned out successful amidst the beautiful architecture of Sandesha Museum and amazing postcrossers of Bengaluru . 

 

Around 25 people including one kid joined who was the youngest postcrosser . We started our day with tour of Sandesha Museum with the help of museum personnel Priya who helped everyone understanding the exhibits in the museum . After that we postcrossers followed our postcrossing tradition and signed the cards with their signatures or personalised beautiful seals . We all shared our experiences with this beautiful hobby with everyone and learned new things like every time . We together share a joy of this lovely hobby and encourage people to join it more as it is very educational and informative.

29 July 2024 : Paris 2024 Olympics : India- Bronze Medal : Women's 10 Meter Air Pistol

Commemorating Ms Manu Bhaker's Bronze Medal @Paris 2024 a special cachet was released at GPO, CG Circle by DPS Mr DK Mistry. 

Today on 30th July, 2024 Philatelic Bureau, C.G. Circle Raipur released special cancellation cachet on events of Olympic medal double in Shooting. This second in series. C.G. Circle will be releasing a special cachet on every single medal won by India in PARIS 2024 Olympics as Olympic Cachet Festival.

On 26 July, 2024, two soecial covers were released by PMG Bengaluru region Shri LK Dash .

Karnataka circle released special cover on Kargil Vijay Diwas and Postcrossing Welfare Society of India released a Special cover on Opening ceremony of Olympic Games, Paris 24 at GPO Bengaluru.

There was a set of three postcards on Silver Jubilee of Kargil Vijay Diwas and a set of 15 picture postcards on pictographical representation of the sports and games of Olympics was released by Postcrossing Welfare Society of India under the aegis of India Post.

There were two special cancellations released one each on Kargil Vijay Diwas and Summer Olympics.

A meter franking *slogan cancellation* was also released on Olympic Games.

The set of postcards of PSOI released on 26 July are decorated in display gallery of Philatelic Bureau of GPO Bengaluru.

Postage stamp on100th Birth anniversary of legendary Singer Mukesh

 

100th Birth Anniversary of Mukesh

Date of Issue : 24 July 2024 

The Ministry of Culture released a commemorative stamp in honour of the legendary singer Mukesh, marking his 100th birth anniversary. Union Minister of Culture and Tourism, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat was the Chief Guest at the event, held on Wednesday as a heartfelt tribute to the legendary singer’s monumental contributions to Indian music and his enduring global legacy, at Akashwani Rang Bhawan, All India Radio, New Delhi.

Speaking on the occasion, Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat stated that the unveiling ceremony of the commemorative stamp symbolizes our deep respect and admiration for Mukesh’s remarkable career and unforgettable voice. It is a momentous occasion, celebrating not just his centenary but also immortalizing his profound impact on the music industry, he added.The evening continued with a mesmerizing musical tribute featuring a performance by Mukesh’s son, Nitin Mukesh.

Obituary

Renowned philatelist  Visipi Dastur is no more....

Renowned philatelist of India Shri Vispi S. Dastur passed away on 9 July 2024. He is known for his specialized collection and study on 'India used abroad'. He was editor of India's Stamp Journal for a long time. I have fond memories of him. In 1984 during UPHILEX: 84, I met him for the first time, he was a jury member and I had a discussion with him over my exhibit. It was the beginning of my philatelic journey I first participated in a  State Level Philatelic Exhibition as a junior participant so still remember it well...  Later I met him during national exhibitions. He was a great philatelist and won several awards at National and International philatelic exhibitions. His famous book among philatelists is  "India Used Abroad". By profession, he was a well-known Chartered Accountant. He was appointed a member of the  Jury in many philatelic Exhibitions. PCI honoured him with the Philatelic Ratna Award.
