Larva stamps
Larva stamps sound quite unusual but here are larva stamps from Korea Post. Here are the details about these beautiful stamps.
Adorable and endearing caterpillars slithering along in a delightful manner –These are Yellow and Red, the main characters of “Larva”, the fourth in the Korean Character Series. This animated cartoon, Larva, is a story that unfolds around two caterpillars which, at the pre-butterfly stage, go through various escapades in the world of human beings. Occasionally, fighting, sometimes in danger, they make their way ingeniously through all difficulties.
First broadcast in 2011, the 3D animation “Larva” has, from the beginning, created a large fan base of both children and adults thanks in part to the unique, comical appearance of its two main characters, and to the slapstick comedy which continues without lines. Currently, it is sparking a craze not only in the domestic market but also in foreign markets, with about 1,000 items of related character products available and the cartoon itself being broadcast in 97 countries around the world.
The Larva stamps are issued in the form of stickers featuring: the insatiable and idiotic yet multi-faceted Yellow; Red, a quick-tempered and radical but skillful greedy head; Pink, whose charming face hides a great strength; Brown, an unconventional dung beetle, keen on collecting his precious dung; Black, a beetle of superhuman strength with deadly force and punch; and Prussian, a parrot which, looking down from above, smacks of a nasty, bossy force. Additionally, included on the margin of the stamps are various kinds of stickers that can be used in conjunction with the stamps.

2014 – Year of Horse
Here are some beautiful stamps issued by Korea Post on Year of Horse. The four stamps feature Horse in different forms selected from the winning entries of an International Stamp design competition.
2014 is the year of the horse. Through the “18th International Postage Stamp Design Contest,” Korea Post has publicly collected stamp designs under the theme of “New Year’s Greeting Stamps.” Four works that won grand and gold prizes in the youth category and general category have each been issued as stamps.
The Grand Prize winner in the general category was “roaring new year” by Cho Zaw Aung (Myanmar), which strongly expresses horse-like features in lines of pastel tones. The work by Norman B.
Isaac (Philippines) which won Gold Prize in the general category features an adorable child wearing a colorful, horse mask. Its cheerful and amusing design is reminiscent of festiveness, expressing expectations for a “joyful new year.”
“Happy new year,” the Grand Prize winner in the youth category by Kwon Yoonjin (Korea) depicted in a charming way a yellow pony on diverse-colored rectangles which evokes the image of a patchwork quilt or an artwork by Mondrian.
The Gold Prize winner, Shin Yumi, conveys a message of “New Year full of love” through her affectionate and delightful images of horses – horses standing or running, horses love whispering, horse eating and horse defecating.
On one hand, horses have long been revered as an auspicious symbol of the king. On the other hand, horses are serene creatures that lead us into the joyful realms of childhood, depicted by ponies in an amusement park or the unicorns of our imagination. It is hoped that 2014, the year of the horse, will bring us all happiness and that it will be a year of facing new challenges and grabbing opportunities, just as the horse might take a mighty leap.

New stamps from South Korea
As a part of a concerted effort to establish South Korean cultural identity in the right way, a selection of national-founding stories from each era has been introduced by Korean Post. The selection of stamps begins with “Dangun Wanggeom of Gojoseon”, continuing with “Geumwa of Buyeo”, “Jumong of Goguryeo”, “Daejoyeong of Balhae”, “Park Hyeokgeose of Shilla”, and finally “Onjo of the Baekje Kingdom”. Jumong who came from Northern Buyeo to Jolbon Buyeo got married with the daughter of Jolbon Buyeo’s king and, on succeeding to his throne, set up the kingdom of Goguryeo.
Jumong then gave birth to two sons, the first named Biryu and the second, Onjo. Yuri, another son, fathered by Jumong when he was staying in Northern Buyeo, came to Goguryeo and became its crown prince, while Biryu and Onjo headed south with 10 servants to establish a new kingdom. Biryu took some people and went to Michuhol, while Onjo set up the capital at Wiryeseong located south of the Han River and established a country with the help of his servants. The date was 18 BC. On finding that Michuhol was not a proper place in which to live, Biryu returned to Wiryeseong. Seeing that the capital, Wiryeseong looked stable and the people there seemed to live comfortable lives, Biryu died, deeply regretting his decision in choosing Michuhol. All of Biryu’s servants and people then followed him back to Wiryeseong, and willingly submitted to the rule of Onjo. Onjo was to later call his country Baekje. Founded in 18 BC and developed around the Han River, Baekje established a maritime kingdom. Due to its particular geographical characteristics, Baekje accepted its new products of civilization from China, developed them into Baekje’s own culture, and transferred them back to Japan. Through these active exchanges with the surrounding countries, Baekje became the center of civilization exchanges in ancient East Asia. Though not a military power or territorial giant, Baekje developed into a cultural power with a sophisticated and refined culture.

Seoul Conference on Cyberspace 2013 17 –18 October 2013
As the Internet’s importance in our daily lives continues to grow rapidly, the need for international cooperation on rules and regulations designed for creating a safe cyberspace has been greatly enhanced. In order to create a forum where governments, international bodies, corporations and many other stakeholders can discuss, in one place, all cyber-related issues, the UK launched the Conference on Cyberspace in 2011.
The Conference on Cyberspace is an international conference that comprehensively discusses those diverse cyber-related issues such as the economic and social benefits of cyberspace, cyber crimes, cyber security, international security and the build-up of related capabilities, among others. Established with the first conference in London, UK, it was followed by the 2012 conference in Budapest, Hungary. The 2013 conference is held in Seoul, Korea for two days from October 17 to 18. The 2013 Seoul Conference has attracted around 1,000 participants from 80 countries and will include ministers and vice ministers, government representatives, those working for international bodies, as well as representatives of domestic and international ICT (information and communications technology) corporations, academia and research centers.
Under the theme of “Global Prosperity through an Open and Secure Cyberspace,” the Seoul Conference is a critical forum that seeks out ways to effectively address the negative aspects of cyberspace such as cyber-attacks, leakage of personal information, as well as ways for cyberspace to make a continuing contribution to a nation’s economic and social development.
Anticipating a successful hosting of the Seoul Conference on Cyberspace, a commemorative stamp has been issued by Korea Post, where cyberspace’s convenient functions are expressed with colorful, rainbow colors and the protection of cyberspace from its adverse functions was embodied in a lock design
