The Akka-Tangi Temple at Brahmagiri, Ashoka Siddapur, Chitradurga Dist., dedicated to Lord Shiva was built by two sisters. It is a modest temple of the 12th - 13th century AD. It comprises an ardha mantapa and a pillared mahamantapa with its entrance provided with kakshasana. Emperor Ashok's earliest rock edicts in Brahmi script and Prakrit language dating to the 3rd century B.C. are discovered in Brahmagiri.
