New Stamps from India

Christmas Greetings - 8 December 2008

Hi ! It's a lovely morning. I just returned after a walk along the Beas river which is just 150 mt. away from my residence. It was a picturesque view. The view of a river in hills is very different from other rivers as it flows along the stones of different sizes. Some are very big with peculiar shapes and designs. And often it seems that it can be crossed over these stones very easily. But it's not so as the flow is very fast and stones are quite slippery. It is quite dangerous. Every year some enthusiasts lose their life while taking photos on the river stones. So take care when going near to the hill river. This is all about the morning here. Now let's go back to philatelic items of today. Here are some new issues by India. On 8th December India Post issued two beautiful stamps on Christmas Greetings in denomination of Rs. 5 & Rs. 20 that can be used both on foreign and domestic mails. So get ready and post your greeting cards affixing these lovely stamps to your friends and relatives. Recently India Post also launched a new series of Definitive stamps on 1st December depicting Pt.Nehru, Mrs. Indira Gandhi & Mr. Rajiv Gandhi who were all Prime Ministers of India with a family relationship Mrs. Gandhi daughter of first P.M. of India, Pt. Nehru, Rajiv Gandhi, son of Mrs. Indira Gandhi. Nice set of definitive stamps with a family tree! In our regular series some nice FDCs of se-tenant stamps from the collection of Mr. Shrikant Parikh. These beautiful FDCs depicting Landmark bridges of India were obtained by 4 different combinations of stamps. This is all for today ....Till next Post.... Have a Great Time !......
