Here are some beautiful stamps on Woodpecker issued by Malaysia Post !! Pos Malaysia has issued three stamps and a miniature sheet depicting local woodpeckers. The species featured on the stamps are : Banded Woodpecker, Common Flameback Woodpecker, Lesser Yellownape Woodpecker, White-bellied Woodpecker. The FDC, stamps sheetlets and Miniature sheet are so beautyiful and sure to be liked by all bird lovers and those collecting stamps on “Bird” Theme !!
The Banded Woodpecker (Picus miniaceus) is a species of bird found in Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, and Thailand. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests and subtropical or tropical mangrove forests.
The Common Flameback (Dinopium javanense) is a species living in Bangladesh, Brunei, Cambodia, China, India, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical dry forests, subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests, and subtropical or tropical mangrove forests.
The Lesser Yellownape (Picus chlorolophus) is a type of woodpecker which is a widespread and often common breeder in tropical southern Asia from India and Sri Lanka east to south China and Sumatra. This is a jungle species.
The White-bellied Woodpecker (Dryocopus javensis) is found in evergreen forests of tropical Asia. Many island forms are endangered, some are extinct. Populations differ in the distribution and extent of white. They are among the largest of the Asiatic woodpeckers.
