Date of Issue : 3 March 2015

Australia Post has released a special set of stamps dedicated to the vehicles that are used to get to Australia’s famous sites. The issue consists of four stamps that were put into circulation on the 3d of March.

Visitors flocking to some of Australia’s most beautiful destinations can board a range of transport vehicles for sightseeing tours. The lovely coastal city of Victor Harbor on South Australia’s Fleurieu Peninsula hosts the Horse-Drawn Tram, a service first established in 1894. Queensland’s spectacular Whitsunday Islands and the Great Barrier Reef can be viewed from the air in popular seaplane tours.

For many years, the early 20th-century steam train Puffing Billy, which runs on its original track in the Dandenong Ranges, has been one of Victoria’s favourite attractions. Canoe and flat-bottomed boats carry tourists along the dramatic Katherine Gorge, a deep gorge carved through ancient sandstone by the Katherine River and the central attraction of Nitmiluk National Park in the Northern Territory.
