India Post issued a set of 6 stamps and a miniature sheet featuring Orchids on 8 August 2016. The 6 stamps have been issued in sheets of 45 stamps each, a miniature sheet of 6 stamps, and 6 sheetlets of 16 stamps each.

Orchids are from the Orchidaceae Family. The Orchidaceae is a diverse and widespread family of flowering plants, with blooms that are often colourful and often fragrant, commonly known as the orchid family. Along with the Asteraceae, they are one of the two largest families of flowering plants. The Orchidaceae have about 28,000 currently accepted species, distributed in about 763 genera.Orchids are easily distinguished from other plants as they have specific structural variations.
