Diamond Jubilee of the Uthradam Thirunal Neerattupuram Pamba Boat Race (1956-2016)

Kerala Postal Circle released a Special Cover on a moving snake boat on 05th September 2016 at Neerattupuram near Thiruvalla, Kerala to commemorate the Diamond Jubilee of the uthradam Thirunal Neerattupuram Pamba Boat Race (1956-2016) for the K. C. Mammen Mappilai Trophy.  The boat race is held on the river Pamba, at Neerattupuram in Central Travancore during the Onam season.  Uthradam Thirunal Marthanda Varma was the titular Maharaja of the princely state of the Travancore and K.C. Mammen Mappilai was the member of Sri Moolam Legislative assembly of Travncore and editor of the Malayala Manorama newspaper.

Paying Tributes to Teachers...

Hongkong Post issued a set of 4 special stamps and a stamp sheetlet to pay tribute to teachers for their love and devotion to students.

Students are also encouraged to show reverence for their teachers through both words and deeds. Let‘s support this idea and this bright philatelic release.

Depicting chalk drawings on a blackboard, this set of four stamps and stamp sheetlet conveys five messages on the theme of “A Tribute to Teachers”. The design honours  the dedicated teachers and reinforces the respect they have earned.

From 1998 onward, September 10th each year has been observed as “Teachers’ Day”, with a view to encouraging open communication between teachers and students and fostering a learning and teaching environment that embraces trust and encouragement as each school year begins. “A Tribute to Teachers” is not only about students respecting teachers, but also about teachers caring for their students.

Canonization of Mother Teresa

Date of Issue : 4 September 2016

To celebrate the canonization of Mother Teresa as a saint, Department of Posts released a commemorative stamp in form of Miniature Sheet in denomination of Rs. 50. Union Minister of State for Communications Shri Manoj Sinha unveiled the stamp at the function held at the Divine Child High School, Andheri, Mumbai .
