Mental Health

Date of Issue : 6 October 2008

Hi ! According to a survey, the stress of the global economic downturn can pose serious threat to mental health. The present day life style of the people with more modern amenities at home and a feeling to be first at every moment has caused a lot of stress in the minds of people all over the world. People have hardly any time for mental relaxation. It has created an indirect effect on the mental health of the people of all age groups.Mental illness is rarely discussed, often misunderstood, and so commonly kept hidden that it's been called the "Invisible Disease." Its scope, scale and severity, however, are both far-reaching and deeply felt. In fact, one in 7-8 persons suffer from a mental illness at some point in their lives, while many more will be touched by the illness of a loved one or friend. To help people confront this problem openly, and with compassion and understanding, Canada Post has adopted Mental Health as its cause of choice and has established the Canada Post Foundation for Mental Health. The Foundation aims to raise funds to reduce the stigma associated with mental illness so that those affected feel more able to discuss their challenges and seek solutions. Here is the stamp shown above issued by Canada on 6 October 2008 to create awareness of mental health among the people of all walks of life. Some other ways to keep good mental health is to have mental involvement in some constructive and creative work . A hobby can make your life happy for ever. Here are some ways for mental relaxation. Music is the one of the finest ways to get mental relaxation. A sweet melodious music has the power to change your mind and soul. A beautiful stamp shown below has been recently issued by Ireland. It is just to make you sing and dance. Another way, a very absorbing hobby - Stamp Collecting which I would recommend as a philatelist to every age of people.
