To mark Philately Day, a Philatelic display was organised by the Philatelic Bureau at Prayagraj. The display was inaugurated by Shri. Gaurav Srivastava, DPS Prayagraj Region. Shri Abhishek Srivastava, SSPO Prayagraj Division and Senior Postmaster Shri. Anil Rastogi, Shri.Ambrish Saxena, Shri. M. Gulrez and Rahul Ganguli have showcased their exhibits. The exhibition will conclude on 15 Oct.

Happy Dussehra

Dussehra, also known as Vijayadashmi, is a big Indian festival celebrated on the tenth day of Ashvin month according to the Hindu calendar. This day falls in the month of September or October. The day culminates a 9 day fasting period of Navratri in the Hindu culture. The day also coincides with immersion of the idol of Goddess Durga. The day is celebrated to commemorate the killing of Ravana by Lord Rama. The day also celebrates the killing of demon Mahishasur by Goddess Durga. Dussehra celebration spreads the message of the victory of good over sin.

International Day of Non-Violence : Tributes to Mahatma Gandhi

 

Gandhi Jayanti is celebrated in India to mark the birthday of Mahatma Gandhi. It is celebrated annually on 2 October, and is one of the three national holidays of India. The UN General Assembly announced on 15 June 2007 that it adopted a resolution which declared that 2 October will be celebrated as the International Day of Non-Violence as he was a non-violent freedom fighter.
