During Wildlife Week, 2014 celebrations, on 1st October 2014 a function was organized by the forest department at the auditorium of Indian Council for Forestry and Education (ICFRE). Shri Harish Rawat, Chief Minister of Uttarakhand released two Special Covers . One on the Wildlife Week and second on the Silver Jubilee of Gangotri National Park.

Wildlife Week (01-07 October 2014) - In the year 1952 with a view to preserve the fauna of India, particularly to take urgent steps to prevent extinction of any species, the Government of India established an Indian Board of Wild Life (IBWL). The Board has since been doing pioneering work to arouse public consciousness in favour of wildlife preservation. In order to arouse a general awakening in the common man in favour of protection of wildlife, the Indian Board of Wild Life (IBWL) decided to observe the Wildlife Week and since then it is observed in the first week of October every year. The special cover released depicts the state animal “musk deer” and state bird “monal”. The cancellation portrays tiger pug marks.
Silver Jubilee of Gangotri National Park – Established in 1989, the Gangotri National Park is located in the Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand. It is spread in a massive 2390 sq. kms area and provides some of the most magnificent views of the coniferous forests that surrounds it. The forest of the park is mostly temperate and the vegetation consists of chirpine, deodar, fir, spruce, oak and rhodendron.
The Gangotri National Park falls under the Western Himalayan bio-geographical zone and is located at an altitude of 1,800m to 7,083 meters above sea level. The park consists of some high ridges, deep gorges and some beautiful cliffs as well. The landscape of the park is mainly dominated by alpine scrub, although one can also find oak and betula as well.
The park contains more than 15 species of mammals and 150 species of birds. This also includes some of the rare and beautiful species like the Snow Leopard, Black Bear, Brown Bear, Musk Deer, Blue Sheep, or Bharal, Himalayan Tahr, Himalayan Monal, Koklass and the Himalayan Snowcock The cancellation depicts Himalayan Tahr.

From October 3rd to October 5th 2014 a philatelic exhibition was held in , a small town in Germany (Thuringia). About 70 exhibits in more as 400 frames were shown from exhibitors of Germany and other countries from Europe.
Mr. Wolfgang Beyer as Vice Chairman of the German Collector Group ArGe Zoologie (collectors of philatelic items about animals) and contributor of Rainbow Stamp Club showed a presentation of Indian Philately with books(from Mr. Madan Middha and Mr.Abhai Mishra ),modern stamps and miniature sheets from India,Customized sheetlets,special covers and Meghdoot postcards.
RPSL Regional Meeting – Delhi
A meeting on RPSL & PSOD Members was held on 28 Sep 2014 in The Crystal Banquet, New Delhi. In the meeting Mr. Dhananjay Desai talked about his collection on Indian feudatory states and his book on Indian Telegraph stamps, Mr. Uttam Reddy about Modern India errors Mr. Gautam Rohatagi on 1854 One anna lithograph stamps, Mr. Ramu S on 1854 Half anna lithograph stamps and Markand Dave gave a presentation on Gandhi Mourning covers . Total 25 RPSL & PSOD members attendedthe meeting.
