📢📢📢Fédération Internationale de Philatélie
(F.I.P.) have granted the organising committee of Cape Town 2022 permission to host a Championship Class.
- By Commissioner General (Cape Town 2022).
Please note that there a 2 types of Championship Class:
- World Championship Class (WSC), precondition: 1 x Large Gold or 1 Grand
Prix
- FIP Championship Class, precondition: 3 x Large Gold in 3 different years
As Cape Town 2022 is a specialized FIP-exhibition, we will be adding a WSC.
Class 12. World Stamp Championship Class For Traditional Philately, Postal
History, Postal Stationery, Aerophilately and Thematic Philately exhibits
that have been awarded:
a. F.I.P. Large Gold medals at the exhibitions with patronage or auspices
of FIP; b. FIP Grand Prix (Grand Prix National, Grand Prix International,
Grand Prix d’Honneur, or Grand Prix d’Exposition).
Neither the 10-year time frame restriction stated in F.I.P. GREX Article
9.1 nor F.I.P. GREX Article 9.5 applies.
(GREX Article 9.1: Participation in the FIP Championship Class is
restricted to exhibits which have received 3 Large Gold medals in World
Exhibitions in three separate years during a 10-year span, starting January
1st of the year after receipt of the 3rd Large Gold Medal.
GREX Article 9.5: On receiving the Grand Prix d’Honneur in the FIP
Championship Class, or having completed eligibility under Article 9.3, an
exhibit may only be shown out of competition by the same owner.)
So it will be a "World Stamp Championship" (WSC) Class. This will be added
to IREX.

Philately Its glorious Past and uncertain future

A
book on Philately was released at Bhubaneswar
on the 2nd June, the first Death Anniversary of the Founder President of Eastern India
Philatelists’ Association, Bijayshree
Routray.
The
Book titled: “Philately: It’s Glorious
Past and Uncertain Future” is a Festschrift Volume in his honour. The book,
written by Anil Dhir, has a foreword by Jeevan Jyoti. It has many interesting articles on the past
and present of Philately in a world perspective, with special reference to the
Indian context. The book is divided into two parts, the first comprises of
scholarly and informative articles, and the second part is memorials and
testimonials from philatelists over the country who have written wonderful and
emotive pieces.
The
book was released by the governor of Odisha, Prof. Ganeshi Lal in the presence
of many other eminences of the state. Speaking on the occasion, Anil Dhir, the
author of the book said that Bijayshree Routray was not only a politician with
a long term stint, but also an excellent scholar and academic person. His role
in firming and taking EIPA to great heights will be ever remembered.
Philatelists from all over the state attended the memorial.
The book is priced at Rs 400 and is available on Amazon and
Flipkart. However a few copies will be given to philatelists for Rs 200.
