The United States Postal Service has unveiled its Janis Joplin commemorative stamp, the latest in its Music Icons series. The stamp will be issued in August.Its design features a blue tinted photo of Joplin wearing pink tinted glasses. The words "Forever Janis Joplin USA" are printed around the border.
"Janis Joplin (1943-1970) was a ground breaking singer whose powerful, bluesy voice propelled her to the pinnacle of rock stardom," reads the Joplin bio printed on the stamp sheet.
"An icon of the 1960s, she was known for her uninhibited and soulful performances. Joplin is now recognized as one of the greatest rock singers of all time, as well as a pioneer who paved the way for other women in rock music."
The date of issue for this stamp has not been declared by the USPS so far . But it will be released sometime in August
