‘Indian Musicians’ stamp release functions at many places

Main stamp release of Indian Musicians stamp   was held at Rashtrapati Bhavan on 3rd September 2014. Presentation cum release function were held at other parts of the country.

Bangalore

In Bangalore Karnataka Sangeetha Nrithya Academy and Karnataka Postal Circle organised Presentation cum release function at Nayana Auditorium, Kannada Bhavan, J. C. Road, Bangalore. Stamp album of Commemorative stamps was presented by Shri M. S. Ramanujan, Chief Postmaster General, Karnataka Postal Circle to Dr. Shalini Rajanish, IAS, Principal Sectretary, Department of Kannada and Culture. Shri K. A. Dayananda, Director, Kannada and Culture and Smt. Gangamma Keshavamurthy, President, Karnataka Sangeetha Nrithya Academy were the Guests of honour of the function.

On the occasion Cultural programme of Carnatic Vocal music by Vidwan R. K. Padmanabha, Hindustani Vocal music by Pt. Vinayaka Toravi, Flute & Santoor Jugalbandhi of Sri Prakash Hegde and Shri Sridhar Hegde was also organised.

12 Frame Philatelic Exhibition was also organised on Music theme with the help of Karnataka Philatelic Society.

VISAKHAPATNAM :

Visakhapatnam Postal Region organised a presentation function of Commemorative Stamps on Indian Musicians at Jubilee Hall, Andhra University, Visakhapatnam at 6.00 pm on 3rd September 2014. Shri B. V. Sudhakar, Chief Postmaster General, AP Postal Circle presentd the stamp album to Prof. G. S. N. Raju, Vice-Chancellor, Andhra University, Visakhapatnam in the presence of Shri I. V. L. Sastry, Renowned Carnatic Musician, Shri Atchyuta Narayana, Bobbili Veena Maker, Smt. Sharda Sampath, Postmaster General, Visakhapatnam Postal Region and Shri Vennam Upender, Director Postal Services, Visakhapatnam Region.

12 Frame Exhibition on Music theme was also organised on the occasion. Cdr. Gandikota Sriramarao, I. N (Retd.) a philatelist from Visakhapatnam exhibited his exhibit on music. Exhibition was visited by more than 1200 students and number of local visitors. Carnatic Music Programme was also organised on the occasion.

 

CHENNAI:

A release function was held in Chennai also. Shri T. Murthy, Chief Postmaster General, Tamilnadu Postal Circle released the album containing the stamps on Indian Musicians in presence of Dr. Nalli Chetty, Shri A. Natarajan, Former Director, Doordarshan Kendra, Chennai, Shri Ravichandran and Shri N. Balasubramanian, Secretaries of Brahma Gana Sabha, Chennai and Shri Mervin Alexander, Postmaster General, Chennai.

Tamilnadu Postal Circle also issued a Special Presentation Pack of the Indian Musicians issue. This pack consists of one Miniature Sheet, one FDC with Miniature Sheet.

On opening the presentation pack, it plays an Indian classical music. Face Value: Rs 400/- . Only 100 issued.

Mumbai

Maharashtra Postal Circle also organised a presentation function of Commemorative Stamps on Indian Musicians at Mumbai. Renowned Hindusani Classical Singer Smt. Padmaja Fenani-Joglekar released the commemorative stamps at a function held in the bicentenary hall of Mumbai GPO.
