Dr Robert Bloomfield, co-ordinator for the 2010 International Year of Biodiversity in the UK, said: "These stamps illustrate that even some of the most loved UK species, which we consider common or familiar, are under threat. We can all make a difference in our day to day lives to change things for the better for plants and animals. IYB-UK encourages people to learn about our native plants and species, to appreciate them, and to do practical things to prevent their loss."
