But it is a pity that these stamps are not available at most of the post offices. Gandhiji writes a Postcard – a competition for children….
Children are invited to write a letter on a Competition Post Card as Gandhiji would on ny burning current topic. The competition will be called “Gandhiji writes a Postcard”.The postcard in this case will be the competition postcard which should be placed on
sale at all Post Offices.
1. Who can participate
The competition will be held for two categories:-
(i) Category I Class IIIrd to Vth
(ii) Category II Class VI to VIIIth
2. How to participate
There will be no entry fee. The children will purchase the competition post card at its
face value of Rs. 10/- directly from the Post Offices.
3. Activities involved
Students to write on Competition Post Cards to share the ideas of and mulate the Father of the Nation. They will write as he would have written on any urning problem of today.
(i) The students will purchase the competition post cards from a post office at its ace value, write on it on the given topic and post it to the Chief Postmaster General f the Circle, on the notified post box number.
(ii) The competition will be in English / Hindi. Word limit will be minimum 25 ords (on the obverse side only) and sender’s particulars like name, age, class, chool, date of writing, address etc. are to be given in the blank part near the address portion.
(iv) Circles will hold a prize distribution ceremony for the best three entries
selected
(v) Three best entries will be selected at Circle level and will be sent to
Directorate

A special cover was released on 09.10.2009 to mark the 100 years of Satyabadi Bana Bidyalaya, Sakhigopal, Puri. The school(Gurukul) was founded in 1909 at Satyabadi near Sakhigopal, 15 Kilometer from Puri, by five well known social reformers of Orissa, Pandit Gopabandhu Das, Pandit Acharya Harihar, Pandit Nilakantha Das, Pandit Godabarish Mishra and Pandit Krupasindhu Mishra, which were known as Panchasakha. The School was visited by Mahatma Gandhi in 1921 and appreciated the pious environment and the dedicated teachers of this Gurukul of Orissa which was later termed as “Man making factory”. The cover depicts the open air classroom of Satyabadi Bana Bidyalaya and the Panchasakha. The cancellation depicts the flame. The cover was designed by Pradip Mohanty, Philatelist. The cover was released by veteran freedom fighter Chandrasekhar Nayak in a function held at the Satabadi Bana Bidyalaya. Ex MP Braja Kishore Tripathy, MLA Prasad Harichandan, Gopal Nanda, Ex-DGP, Orissa were among other dignitaries of the function. A small philatelic exhibition was also held on the occasion. The exhibits of Haripada Panda on Orissa theme were displayed in the exhibition. Philatelists from Bhubaneswar and Cuttack attended the function.
