New Stamp - 2018 The Year of Dog



Date of Issue : 15 January 2018

Two new issues were released  by Canada Post today celebrating Lunar New Year - the Year of the Dog !
The design of the non-denominated Permanent stamp includes a Chinese paper lantern with the image of a dog overlaid in red. The words dog, chien and the Chinese characters for “gǒu” (or dog). The set will also include an international-rate stamp as well as a souvenir sheet.
From Feb. 16, 2018 to Feb. 4, 2019, those born in the Year of the Dog will have plenty of days to call their own. Possessing many of the same positive attributes as  canines, those people born in the Year of the Dog are known to be trustworthy, protective, courageous and driven by a sense of duty and justice.

The function was organised on a grand scale at the ‘Meghdoot Auditorium’, 5th floor, Banglore GPO. The Chief guest of the function was Col. Arvind Verma, Postmaster General, Bangalore HQ region and the function was presided over by Dr. (Mrs.) Sita Bhateja, Renowned International Philatelist. Mr. Shivaram, Postmaster, Bangalore GPO was also present.

The USPS will issue a special Love stamp on 18th January 2018 .Love is in bloom with this new stamp. 




This stamp is being issued for Valentine's Day. But Love can be expressed anywhere anytime !  This beautiful Forever stamp can be used any day of the year to send love to friends and family.The stamp is a Forever® stamp and will always be equal in value to the current First-Class Mail® one-ounce price.The stamp art features a fanciful garden of colorful flowers surrounding the word “Love” written in cursive script.Hand-painted with gouache on paper by artist Anna Bond, the illustration is whimsical and vibrant.

New Stamp from India - Central Plantation Crops Research Institute

India Post released a set of 2 commemorative postage stamps and a miniature sheet on 100 Years of Coconut Research on Jan 8, 2018. 




The Central Plantation Crops Research Institute (CPCRI) was established in 1916 as Central Coconut Research Station, and was later taken over by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR). The ICAR established CPCRI in 1970 by merging Central Coconut Research Stations at Kasaragod and Kayamkulam as well as Central Arecanut Research Station, Vittal and its five substations at Palode (Kerala), Kannara (Kerala), Hirehalli (Karnataka), Mohitnagar (West Bengal) and Kahikuchi (Assam). The research centers of CPCRI for spices, cashew, oil palm and coastal agriculture had been upgraded to independent institutes and directorates.
