New Stamps on Kingfisher..

 

 

Hi ! Here is a magnificent set of four stamps issued by Australia Post on Kingfishers. The stamps feature the most beautiful Kingfisher species found in Australia. The wonderful Maxim Cards have added colors to to this lovely issue and will be very much appreciated by bird lovers and stamp collectors. Australian Kingfishers

Kingfishers comprise a distinctive and spectacular group. There are 95 species worldwide, 10 occurring in Australia. Two species are endemic - the Red-backed Kingfisher and the Laughing Kookaburra - and eight are shared with other countries.

This new stamps issued by Australia Post comprises four denominations, featuring the following Kingfisher species:

• 60c Red-backed Kingfisher (Todiramphus pyrrhopygius )
• $1.20 Sacred Kingfisher (Todiramphus sanctus )
• $1.80 Blue-winged Kookaburra (Dacelo leachii )
• $3.00 Yellow-billed Kingfisher (Syma torotoro )

Stamp on Mother Teresa from Albania..

Hi ! Here is a new postage stamp issued this year on Mother Teresa. I have not written about this stamp earlier. This postage stamp was issued by Albania on 26 August 2010 to commemorate birth Centenary of Mother Teresa. Thanks to Mr Shrikant Parikh, Ahmedabad for today’ post. Mother Teresa is one of the most famous personalities featured on stamps by several countries this year and the stamps are very popular among collectors all over the world. Finland – Japan Joint Issue

Date of Issue – 5 November 2010

Finnish Post issued Christmas stamps  on November 5, 2010. The theme of the first stamp of EUR 0.55 in value is Santa Claus, and the other illustrates a reindeer . The 1st class NVI Christmas stamp illustrates Christmas magic in Lapland. The design of the new stamps represents how Christmas is seen internationally, particularly in Japan.

This year, a joint issue with Japanese Post will be released together with the Finnish Christmas stamps. A five-stamp miniature sheet denominated in euro is the work of four Japanese designers.The Christmas stamps  will be issued in Japan on November 8.

New Coin from Mumbai Mint

For the first time in Indian history a coin of Rs 75/ will be issued along with other denominations of 1,2,5 and 10/ to celebrate PLATINUM JUBLEE of Reserve bank of India.

Booking of coins will be from 01.11.10 to 31.12.10.After a long time a set of five coins will be issued by Mumbai mint.The cost for UNC coin is Rs 3400/ , 125 US dollar and for Proof coin Rs 4000/,150 US dollar inclusive of packing and postage.The link is
